Seeing those noise pollution maps I have to be an apposed for these days centers. They are just too close to residential neighborhoods. If they want to put them here then they need to offer to purchase adjoining homes.

I think we need to move ahead with the data centers. I'm reading the comments on here, and clearly the "For" votes are winning over the "Opposed" votes. And I think that's good. AI isn't something to be scared of. Let's get with it Archbaldians.

We need jobs here. We need to expand our tax base. I'm not sure what all the noise of opposition is about, but I figure if we just make them push back the buffer zone from 300 yards to say 500 yards, that would be sufficient. I say let's move forward with this before big companies just decide it's not worth it and move to the next town.

Reading these comments over I have to wonder if people have collectively lost their minds entirely. We’re talking about a lovely place where people live, and work, have memories, have love for our families. And what? We’re going to destroy it over money? Over some stupid technology that may not even be around or viable in 10 years because some other shiny thing has taken its place? 51 Walmart Supercenters sized buildings! Noise! Electrical cost! Water pollution! This must not be allowed to occur. I see this organization contacted the governor, to see what he thinks. Well I will tell you this. If Shapiro ever ever wants to become president, he better darn well handle this properly! Because a whole lot of people are watching him now. And I for one, can’t wait to see what he has to say.

People don’t always think about what keeps the internet running, but data centers are a huge part of it. Every time we send a message, stream a movie, store photos in the cloud, or run a business online, it’s all powered by data centers behind the scenes.
Supporting data centers means supporting the technology and infrastructure our world depends on every day. They bring jobs, investment, and long-term opportunities to communities, while also helping power things like cloud computing, AI, online education, healthcare systems, and small businesses.

Time after time the data center developers & their law firms have treated the people of Archbald as if they're stupid. Good thing there's a website like this, with no agenda or connections to data center development at all!

This comment is for everything related to the data centers in Archbald. These projects represent the future of technology, infrastructure, and growth in our area.
If you are "for this", you’re part of pushing things forward. The world runs on data now — time to stop living in the stone age and start building what’s next.

Anybody that thinks we're going to get some magical tax rebates because of all these hideous data centers is smoking something. It's not going to happen. Did you see how Shapiro is dancing around this issue already?

These centers draw other businesses in and help build the towns around them. The electric hike everyone is afraid of will be offset by the tax money saved.

I want to be respectful here, but dude, do you even live here? What friggin' tax money savings are you even talking about?

Bob, what businesses will be drawn in? If bills to run a business (or even a school) increase, how can any local or big business survive? Businesses can just about survive now. Local economy and school districts will suffer. Towns around is a loosely based term but no one will live here, so, yes, people will move elsewhere and other towns will see an increase.
Bob, help me out here. What tax money will be saved? In addition to that, when bills (<—notice plural) spike monthly that can far exceed any savings.

this would not be a popular feeling in town but I want to express my views. we have lots of young people here in search of good paying jobs. many would like to stay in the area but employment opportunities are limited. just saying why not build these data centers here and give our folks a chance to earn a decent wage? understand the average salary is $86,000 a year! well, that would go a very very long way in archbald let me tell you.

Next time the Harrisburg attorney whines about no "out of towners" should speak, maybe we should chant "you are the (insert word here) out of towners, so get the (insert word here) out!

The problem with the opposition to data centers is you are relying on zoning laws to stop them. Instead of zoning you should stop the data centers by having a referendum on the ballot for each town to vote on in November. If a zoning board votes against data centers, the same board could approve them one year later. By contrast, a referendum could stop them more permanently. Zoning has an ugly history. It has a history of approving bad development, and of stopping good development. Zoning also has a history of racism that was exclusionary.

Look, to be fair, I have to say I'm all for these data centers, not just in this little town, but anywhere in the US where we have rural areas. We need to be in the AI arms race, and that means these data centers need to exist someplace. Otherwise, we will lose ground to the Chinese.

Look, I know dinosaurs are thinking we don't need these because of the various reasons already stated ad nauseam, but the fact of the matter is, THE WORLD IS MOVING TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE, ok?, and that means we need to make the investment! American can most certainly NOT allow other countries move ahead of us in this arena. Deal with it Archbald. Sorry, but it's a minor sacrifice we're asking you to make for the good of the country.

Obviously you don’t live here in Archbald from your comment. So you expect us to bear an unreasonable amount of the burden and noise and sound pollution? Also many of us are not against data centers, but we don’t want them in residential areas, and we want them responsibly zoned in industrial areas like the industrial use they are. Your comment is unbelievably without any compassion for the people that will have to live with this industrial use on top of them.

Data centers are immense environmental and local community impact. They require a ton of electricity and guess who pays for that? Also, they need massive water usage for cooling which leads to local Archbald pollution. What's the net result? Strained power grids and lousy environment impacts. Just say "NO" to Data Centers - especially in my backyard.
